First, it is a cliffhanger, and I am over waiting to find out what happens at the end three months later when I have forgotten what the first book was about. Second, there is not much "happy" in this book. I like a balance of angst and happiness, and I never felt that in this book. Third, and the most important for me is every guy in this book needs psychological help as well as the heroine. Bethany has a very crappy home life and meets Jake. From the beginning he is very possessive. I knew that going in, but as we learn about her home life and see Jake in action, I feel that Bethany is moving from one bad situation to another. It's hard to find anything positive with her situation. Her family needs mental help, she needs mental help, and Jake needs mental help. I kept waiting for a change in Jake's disposition, but it never came. Since there is a cliffhanger, it could be coming in the second book. It had a lot of potential to be a good book, but for me, I was just disappointed in how the story line played out.

This story is so heart breaking yet beautiful at the same time, Bethany is technically a prisoner of her father and Jake is a lost soul, by chance they meet and the explosion begins, they have intense passion and love.. It's not but it kind of is a typical first love.. Onto book 2 I can't wait to see what happens with them ) happy reading
I really liked the story.Loved the romance and the crazy drama from Bethany's home life.Great characters. But the book was just way too long. This could have been a series. The story should have been split into at least three different books. But all in all it was a great read.I really enjoyed the story line.
I don't even know where to start. The words in this story really make you think. I honestly have never read anything like this. The intensity of this book is the only way I can think of to describe how I felt reading it. So much is going on and it's amazing all the twists and turns this story takes. Definitely not your typical love story but an excellent read.
The main thing I loved about this book is the real ness of the characters. The events that happen to us in our childhood help to mold us into the people we become. I love how Lauren Crossley shows the dark side and imperfections of the characters but then gives us insight to why they are the way they are. When you have a childhood that is less than perfect you have two choices you can go down the same road you have always known and use it as excuse and play the victim or you can decide to do better... Be better and hopefully break the bad cycles. I cannot wait to see how the rest of this story plays out!!!!
The premise is good. Live at first sight...multiple times! This girl is amazing...Guys just fall head over heels for her. Bethany is an innocent that has guys wanting her. Jake is the lucky one who lands her, but he has serious anger issues. There are so many complications that leaves you wondering and aching for the next installment. The book needs extensive editing, but all in all it was good.
This book started out hopeful but then the disfunctuality of every person bites you in the behind. A young girl (20), is so controlled by her father that he removes her from college because a boy shows interest in her. He treats her horrendously at times and other times like a princess. His feelings and actions are so out of line. One night she sneaks out to get milk for her recluse mother, who he treats worse than the daughter, and meets a young man.
Now, you think, yes she meets nice guy and he and she fall in love and live happily ever after. But his history is worse than hers and he is violent, especially if any guy touches her. He beats them to a pulp. SHE IS TRADING ONE PRISON FOR ANOTHER. He swears he will never physically hurt her but can't trust her and goes berserk everytime any little thing happens blowing it way out of proportion. Add in his dysfunctional family, a stalker ex girlfriend, her guy from college, and an attempted rape and the story just gets sadder. Then, her dad finds out and tries to beat a pregnancy out of her. Thirty plus chapters and I get to be continued instead of happily ever after with like 4 different couples plotting revenge or ways to separate the couple.
I kinda hope in book 2, she gets a backbone, and after the boyfriend and father both end up dead due to the plotting, that she finds her grandmother left her the house. That she sells the house and her and the baby leave the area completely and start over. Because, even the guy from college is delusional and messed up. I don't think anyone else besides Sarah in this book is redeemable
Ok first... Her father is strict and controling... Always dictating her life.. That's why Bethany hates him so much because she has no freedom. Than when she meets Jake he is pretty much her father but she falls in love with him?! This book repeats itself so much over and over and over and over and over (see how annoying that is?) There were so many mistakes in the book I'm actually shocked she published it! I would be embarrassed. I am officially at 55% of the book and I had to call it quits. I can't keep reading the same thing over and over again and it is not a book I would recommend for anyone.
